Prospective students may apply for admission at any time after their junior year. All application materials must be received by January 15 for the following fall.
Graduate Studies Application
Apply for Graduate Admission online, anwer questions and get details through the Office of Graduate Studies.
If you CANNOT apply online, a general application packet may be obtained from Graduate Studies. Mail the complete Paper application directly to the AgChem Graduate Group office.
Transcripts
Official transcripts from each college or university attended, including UC Davis, must be forwarded to the AgChem Graduate Group office. A summary of credit transferred from another institution is not acceptable. Official transcripts of all work completed must be received before applications will be considered. (Note this includes applicants who attended University of California as undergraduates for at least two years.) Have transcripts mailed directly to the AgChem Graduate Group.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
It is highly recommended that applicants take the General GRE no later than December. The department code for sending scores directly to the Graduate Group is not listed, so you must send a photocopy of your GRE scores to the AgChem Graduate Group.
Letters of Recommendation
Three letters of recommendation are required to complete the application for admission. Letters may be from professors, employers or others who have knowledge of the applicant's academic qualifications or personal characteristics. Mail directly to the Graduate Group office.
Application Fee
An application fee of $60 is charged everyone applying for admission for the first time or after a lapse of twelve months. It is now possible to pay online by credit card at the time you submit your Online Application for Admission.
If you prefer to send in a check, make your check payable to The Regents of the University of California and send it directly to the Graduate Group Office. Your canceled check is your receipt. Please note that the fee is not refundable under any circumstances, your online application will be held in inactive status until matched with your application fee.
UC Davis Graduate School McNair Fee Waiver Form This form was designed for McNair Scholar undergraduates (or McNair Scholar alumni) who wish to apply to a UC Davis graduate program. Interested McNair Scholars should print out the above PDF file and send it to the Ag and Environmental Chemistry Graduate Group. Instructions are on the form.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Applicants whose primary language is not English must submit scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 550 on the paper exam or 213 on the computerized exam is required. The institution code for sending test scores to UC Davis is 4834. The department code for sending scores directly to the Graduate Group is not listed, so you must use code 99 and specify Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry as the department. Have TOEFL scores sent directly to AgChem Graduate Group.
Notification & inquiries
The Admissions Committee of the Graduate Group reviews each complete application and makes a recommendation to the Dean of Graduate Studies. The Dean makes the final decision and will notify the applicant. Applicants inquiring about their admission status should contact Graduate Admissions, not the Graduate Group, however, inquiries regarding letters of recommendation and/or GRE scores should be directed to the Graduate Group Program.
